Country Retreat

Berkshire

We were approached to work on this newly built country home at the very early stage of construction by a private developer. Our brief was to develop an interior scheme throughout the property. Within the brief we were to include space planning, interior finishes and fittings, joinery, bespoke cabinet work and ironmongery. Design the substantial kitchen, bathrooms and spa area. The finished property has the key elements of a glamorous but relaxed family home.

All of the rooms in the property are well proportioned. The expansive open-plan kitchen, dining and living area is the perfect place to entertain and to gather with family and friends. It is flooded with natural light, giving the opportunity to introduce bold colours, large scale furniture and colourful artwork.

In the spacious media room a deep shade of mocha was applied to the walls. To create an informal seating area, large enough for the whole family to share, an oversized sofa with was commissioned. Upholstered in a tobacco morié material with a patina finish.

To create an open connection between the breakfast room and the family room, Critall screens were installed. The contrast between the Nero limestone floor, duck egg blue walls, pillar box red sofas and contemporary artwork create joyful and modern mood.

The formal drawing room is an elegant, light and airy space with triple aspect windows with vistas over rolling countryside. To enhance the feeling of luxury, a deep silky velvet pile carpet was installed. A perfect foil to the chalky matt finish mushroom toned walls. An imposing creamy stone fireplace along with the solid oak window frames create a feeling of grandeur. An elegant room to spend time in and relax with friends.

To ensure the very best use of space in the master ensuite, a layout was designed to include a central wall, allowing us to create zones. With a central panel we created the perfect place position a generous vanity basin with deep storage drawers. The area behind provides a spacious shower enclosure and a discreet housing for the w.c. Materials were chosen to create a sleek and contemporary scheme, Bianco Calcutta marble tiles in a polished finish contrast with the satin black finish of the vanity basin and slipper bath. The walls finished in a nude emulsion, together with the stone mullion windows, create an added softness.

To create a statement wall behind the large D shaped bath, a decorative mosaic tile was installed. On the panelled wall opposite the bath, a pretty vanity basin sits complete with a black Nero marble counter top, nickel stand and taps.

To create a striking calm and zen interior within the spa, large format porcelain tiles, in a matt limestone finish were specified for the floors throughout through to the changing room and the summer room. To create a moody contrast, the swimming pool itself was lined with a stunning, Corton cast iron tile. The rich bronze tones, along with the smooth texture and silky appearance create a very inviting pool to dive into.

In one of the guest bedrooms a more feminine scheme was introduced. Bespoke cabinet work design and built, painted it in a smokey Amethyst. We built up a colour palette that included sugar almond pink on the velvet chair, ink blue for the rug, sitting boldly on silver carpet. A decadent crystal pear drop chandelier adds sparkle to the finished scheme.
