Georgian Townhouse

Oxfordshire

This Georgian Townhouse, had for many years been used for offices. We were approached to work on the complete renovation, to create a substantial family home. Working with some of the Client’s existing antiques and artwork, we introduced new more contemporary items to create harmonious and inviting interior for the family to enjoy.

The living room has a wonderful mix of colours, pattern and texture together with traditional features. This space has duel aspect and has a large oriel window, overlooking the garden which also allows light to flood in. Rich red, blue and crimson furnishings create a happy airy feel, making it a perfect place to relax.

The traditional dining room is a mixture of old and new. Much loved antique furniture fills the room, whilst new additions such as the textured rich blue upholstered dining chairs, the delicate print of the curtains and the contemporary brass, hand forged chandelier with distinctive sculpted leaves, bring new life in.

The stunning hand painted kitchen has a lovely contemporary feel, whilst keeping to the tradition of the Georgian style of the home. The richly embroidered blind material makes a striking feature against the white of the cupboards and worktops.

The classic crimson runner, with its strong narrow border sits strikingly against the white banister of the listed staircase, bringing the centre of the house to life. A juxtapose of shapes, rich colours, wood, wool, paint, adding warmth to a space flooded by light.

A beautifully proportioned and elegant guest bedroom, with stone wall colour, classic print curtains and indigo velvet bedspread teamed with contemporary crystal lamp bases and charcoal linen shades.

The bold use of the trompe l’oeil wallpaper within the cloakroom creates a clever impression of space.

In the large and elegantly proportioned family bathroom, we added a contemporary twist, a central panel of stunning, richly textured stone coloured tiles and a pair of niches backed with eglomise mirrored glass. A decorative backdrop to the classic cast iron Greenwhich ‘boat bath’.

Within the guest bedroom the cool light blue of the walls, act as a perfect backdrop for the pops of orange and antique furniture.

Creating a stylish bathroom within a tricky space. Contemporary wall tiles, designed by the spanish born designer Patricia Urquiola, were specified, to create a focal to the wall behind the decorative roll top bath.
