New Beginnings!

Bring out the old, Bring in the new!

It’s a New Year with new beginnings and a great time to start thinking about unique ideas for your home. There are vibrant, modern styles for 2017 and the ‘Pantone’ colour of the year is no exception. The colour green symbolises life and fresh starts, this is something we should all embrace and reflect within our homes!

This pantone colour can be represented on the walls, furniture and even home accessories, like potted plants or candle holders. This colour is a great way to make a statement in your home and harmonises well with blue and even lighter shades of pink! This colour connects to the environment and nature and calls to mind the ‘re-’ words: refresh, revive, restore, renew, replenish, regenerate, rejuvenate, reinvigorate, re-oxygenate. This is definitely something we all need to apply to ourselves and our homes as we fight off the winter blues!

Here are a few exciting trends influencing us this year…

1) Along with this expressive pantone colour, mixed patterns are popular. The use of mismatched patterns performs dynamic shape and form in your home. This Moroccan influence grants you to unite colours together. Our blue mixed patterned chair is a great example of combining patterns and creating a statement.

2) Faux Finishes are also in trend this year… from faux wooden beams, foliage, marble and even leather counters. This is a budget friendly and reliable alternative to authentic materials and gives you the freedom to experiment with introducing new materials and textures in your home. We are always using faux flowers in the boutique they are a perfect way to create a focal within a cabinet or on table and to emphasise the colour story in a room.

3) Navy is the new black! Because colour is so important for 2017 navy has now replaced black. Navy works well with so many colours and creates mystery to a space without feeling small and isolated. So if you need to update your kitchen cabinets or add an accent in your home, navy is the way to go! This colour also compliments this year’s pantone colour of the year, as it mellows the colour down.

4) We will be seeing artisan items such as hand blown vases, porcelain and amazing woodwork appearing in interior schemes in the coming year. These artisan items will also materialise in raw white and chalky tones, echoing the importance of nature and organic. In 2017 we will see the unearthed and handmade being celebrated.
