Autumn 2018 Interior Style Top Trends

Grey skies and wet mornings of autumn may be starting to set in, but that doesn’t mean you should give up on style. The exciting, eclectic mix of Autumn 2018 Interior Style on offer this season at Anne Haimes Interiors is an opportunity to invest in making your home as deliciously cosy and inviting as possible.

One of the quickest ways to cosy up your home is to introduce layers; throws, cushions, sheepskins and heavy curtains all bring an element of warmth to a room.    Animal print was all over the catwalks so naturally clawed its way back into the home too – channel luxe and texture into a room with a (faux) fur throw or cushions.

Create a relaxed sitting area in front of the fireplace or if you don’t have one.   You can use candles to set a warm and romantic mood in the room, using scented candles for a fragrant ambiance.

Use the lack of natural light to create atmosphere with different kinds of lighting. Try different lamps and look for bulbs with warmer tones to give a warmer overall cast to a room.

Re-evaluate your interior colour scheme, this autumn calls for rich, jewel tones such as sapphire or midnight blue in opulent velvets, wools & cashmere.  If you don’t want to go all out but are keen to tap into the trend, add some bright and bold cushions to your sofa or buy a new throw to liven things up.

Off-set these with metallic accents; lamps and mirrors which will bring a gleaming glimmer and a flash of colour.

Embellishment is key this autumn; fringing, tassels & trimmings are on lamps, cushions & smaller accessories.   Existing curtains & furniture can be given a modern edge with the addition of trims and borders, or even a strategically placed tieback.

This season bold floral wallpapers are sprouting up all over the interiors world and flowers are a real mood-enhancer. If you don’t want to go the whole hog, you can create this look by adding vases of flowers throughout your home, providing instant cheer and bringing nature to you, even when it is too cold to go outside.
