FAQs

What makes a formal dining room?

A table that is large enough to seat 8+ people comfortably, and is a dedicated area for dining.

What should be the centre piece of your dining room?

Good lighting, to create the perfect ambience, and your guests will thank you for it too!

What are parsons chairs?

A Parsons chair is typically a high backed, clean lines and fully upholstered chair that often comes in sets of 4 or 6. Their shape is typically suited to the addition of slip covers.

What is right height for a dining room table?

We always try to aim for 76cm, to compliment normal dining chair heights.

How does Anne Haimes like to approach dining room design?

The first step is to understand what times of the day the dining room will typically be used, and who will be using it. If it’s for entertaining in the evening, we would aim to create an intimate vibe that is both welcoming and indulgent. If it’s for family daily use the acoustics are important, and having a lighting scheme that adjusts to different levels throughout the day.

‘When we moved into our first house with a dining room we were a bit lost on what to do with the space. Annie and her team went above and beyond creating different layouts for us and made us realise what we wanted from the room – it’s now stunning, we get so many compliments on it!’
