Fabulous, Festive & Fun for Christmas and New Year

At this time of year it’s not just our shops and showrooms that should be full of festive goodies but our homes too, we love nothing more than indulging our inner Christmas hostess throughout December to make our festive gatherings truly memorable. With food, family and friends the main agenda in December, hosting social gatherings should be enjoyable and we think that getting our festive table settings just right is key to that…it’s not just dressing the tree that should be fun! Other than tearing open the beautifully wrapped presents under the tree (obviously!), Christmas dinner is the highlight of the day, below are some tips for creating that festive feeling.

Traditional Touches

Red and green are the traditional heroes of Christmas, if you don’t want to over-do this colour scheme keep the basics simple with a neutral pallet of cream and white, look to Scandi influences where red and green touches just hint at this traditional colour and are paired with rustic, natural materials to stop it becoming too obvious. Try pairing our red Invite Tablecloth with crisp, clean, simple accessories, this will add grandeur without being overbearing. Or for a more laid-back look simply set the table with just a runner.1 (2)

If you want to indulge these classic colours then go to town with candles, place settings, foliage and beautiful china. Both the boutique and our homes are scented with Melt’s Noel and Christmas candles this year, not only do the red and green colours look festive but the scents are beautiful. Also pieces you buy now don’t just have to be for Christmas, simply update a beautiful candle holder with a red candle or set crisp white china on top of a coloured charger plate to give it a festive edge.2

Modern Metalics

This popular Christmas staple is going nowhere, and this year new hues of rose gold, copper and soft bronze have been showing up alongside iconic silver and gold to create some stunning luxury schemes. Gleaming metalics aren’t just influencing our tableware but our Christmas trees too, with baubles galore, but don’t just save these for the tree, pile them high in glass urns and bell jars to create stunning focal centrepieces with a sense of decadence and luxury. Tear-drop shaped baubles are big this season and we have been grouping our beautiful soft silvers, gold and copper ones together with garland fairy-lights to create some magical looks in store.3

Why not let this little chap add a soft sheen  to your table setting this year, our rose gold sparrow makes a sweet and stylish place setting option and has been appearing in our displays this month.4

Don’t feel disheartened when clearing up after Christmas lunch, New Years Eve  provides the perfect excuse to bring out all these gorgeous accessories again and really indulge in the glamourous looks of the season. Team your metalics with soft velvets to create a sumptuous scene and don’t forget no New Years Eve celebration is complete without beautiful champagne flutes and some sparkle!

We wish you all a wonderful Christmas and exciting New Year!
